Newspaper reports concerning the departure of our former managing partner Latiff Ibrahim and four other lawyers from our Firm -

We would like to take this opportunity to clarify that the reason for Mr Latiff's departure is largely due to the divergence of strategic direction of the Firm between Mr Latiff and the majority of the incumbent Partners of the Firm which arose primarily from a growing disagreement with his leadership. Mr Latiff is no longer a Partner of the Firm as of 29 January 2010. Two of the partners who left with him were only recently promoted on 1 January 2010. Shashi Nathan resigned for personal reasons but remains a consultant of the Firm. The other lawyer who left was a junior partner whose resignation was unrelated to the others. The departures have no impact on the Firm which has more than 50 lawyers and fee earners. We remain strong in our core practice areas. The new management will continue to grow the Firm based on its core values - Integrity, Excellence, Accountability, Cohesion and Respect.
