| Jonathan is Head
of the Firm’s Intellectual Property and
Technology Practice Group and is a Partner in
the Sports and Media Practice Group.
Jonathan regularly advises clients on the strategic
protection and commercialization of their intellectual
property rights, ensuring adequate protection
of their intellectual property so as to facilitate
the commercial exploitation of their intellectual
property in Singapore and abroad. His other areas
of expertise include information technology (software
development and licensing) and transfer of technology
(technology licensing and technical assistance).
He recently advised on a loan facility where production
rights were utilised (for the first time ever
in Singapore) as security for the loan facility
in relation to the production of the television
animation series entitled "Wolverine"
for Marvel Characters Inc.
Jonathan has also successfully developed a niche
practice in the area of sports and media law.
His clients include prominent local and overseas
production houses. In the course of acting for
clients in the media industry, he has regular
dealings with the Media Development Authority
of Singapore.
Jonathan is one of the co-authors of the Singapore
Forms and Precedents volume on Media published
by Butterworths. He is active in the Licensing
Executives Society of Singapore (having served
in the Executive Committee for two terms), the
Asian Patent Attorneys Association and the International
Trademark Association and has been recommended
for franchise work in Who’s Who Legal.
Jonathan was called to the Singapore Bar in 1990.
